Fusion Announces 2009 Brass Aranger & Percussion Arranger                              Ron Ellis & John Campese                                                                  September 25th, 2009

Fusion is very pleased and excited to announce the addition of two highly distinguished long term drum corps professionals to our team for the 2009 season. Ron Ellis joins the “Core” as Brass Arranger/Consultant and John Campese as Percussion Arranger.  As we move forward into our third season, we look forward to continuing to provide our members with the opportunity to enhance their musical and color guard/dance performance education in an atmosphere that fosters not only teamwork, mentoring and dedication, but also the pursuit of excellence.  Fusion is dedicated to providing the best drum corps experience to all members while providing world-class instruction and programming in a creative positive environment.   (Read More...)
Fusion Announces 2009 Program Coordinator - Izzy Delgado

Fusion Core is pleased to announce Izzy Delgado will be returning to Fusion Core as Program Coordinator/Drill Designer. Izzy is very excited about his new role with Fusion and is looking forward to another exciting year with the organization.  As Drill Designer and Visual Caption Head since our inaugural year, Izzy has been instrumental in leading the Core to a 2008 second place finish as well as achieve the High Visual Caption Award/Class A in only our second year of existence. Fusion "Core" Presents their 2009 Program - "Progress"

After coming off a very successful season and in keeping with the "Momentum" and progression established by the Core it seems appropriate to continue to build on the foundation by reflecting our musical inspiration, movement and style towards the future utilizing Disney's Illuminations:  Reflections of Earth as our soundtrack.

Fusion Announces 2009 Brass Staff

Fusion announces the return of Ed Bopp as Staff Coordinator/Assistant Director.  With that being said, we are pleased to announce the Brass Caption Head and Instructional Staff for the 2009 season.  In keeping with the standards set for the brass ensemble during our first two years we have the following returning and new staff members.  Director, Holly Marino said “the brass section continues to expand their technical skills thru the superior musical education provided by our music educators as evidenced by the High Brass Award Class “A”, We look forward to “stepping it up” on the field with our show “Progress”; 2009 will be an exciting year!” (Read More...)
New Fusion Already a Winner (Neighborhood News)

Fusion Drum and Bugle Corps earned second place in the Drum Corps Associates World Championship competition with a score that was only three-tenths of a point out of first place. A most impressive showing, but even more so considering the group, which is based in the Rockaway/Dover area, was founded just last year.

Maurice Banks, one of the founding members and its recruit manager, said that he and three friends started Fusion in order to bring a competitive drum and bugle corps back to Morris County. The Dover resident said that when he was growing up in Boonton, such groups were popular in Morris County.  (Read More ...)
Fusion Announces Additional Brass Staff

Fusion is pleased to announce that Minesh Shah will be joining the Fusion's '09 brass staff.

Minesh is from Linden Nj and Currently lives in Montclair Nj. He did his undergrad at Umass Lowell and is finishing his masters at Montclair State where he has been Graduate Assistant Director of the Band program as well as visiting specialist in Brass Pedagogy. With those two combined institutions, Minesh has been taught by many of the East Coasts finest teachers. He has consulted for marching bands for a majority of his adult life. (Read More ...)
Fusion Core Announces 2009 Percussion Staff

Caption Head - Adam Kalnick

Fusion is pleased to have Adam Kalnick return as Caption Head for the 2009 season.  Adam has been part of the Fusion Team since its inaugural season and has been instrumental in the progress the "Core" has made since its inception.  Motivated to continue to provide a music education program for members at all levels which will be challenging, Adam is looking forward to providing the necessary tools to succeed in 2009. Considered by many who know him to be one of the most quotable instructors in DCA, he has also been described as being one of the best "pure teachers" in the activity.   (Read More ...)
Instructor - Robert "Tex" Lazenbery

With over 20 years of experience in the m arching percussion activity as an arranger, instructor and consultant, Robert "Tex" Lazenbery joins the Fusin family as a member of the percussion staff.  During his 20 years of experience Tex has taught/performed with many groups most recently as a member and percussion staff for the Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corps.
Front Ensemble Instructor - Ben Schwartz

Ben Schwartz has been teaching and arranging music for competitive groups in New Jersey since 2000. He has arranged music for several bands including Governor Livingston, Sayreville, and Lakewood.  Bens drum corps background includes being a marching member of the Raiders, the Sunrisers, and the Bushwackers. While earning his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Ben studied classical percussion with She-e Wu and Dennis Delucia. When not teaching, he enjoys performing as a percussionist, as well as being a music adjudicator for USSBA. Currently, he is the Director of Bands/Percussion Arranger at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, NJ.  In 2007 Ben was on the percussion staff at Fusion Core as an Instructor and was the Percussion Arranger.  He is happy to be returning as the Pit Instructor and hopes to achieve excellent results for 2009!  (Read More ...)
Fusion Core Announces 2009 Color Guard Staff

Fusion Core is pleased to announce Larry Trimble and Steve Raysor returning for their third season as Color Guard Co-Designers/Caption Heads for the 2009 season.  Joining the Team this season as an Instructor is Elyse Hajdusek.  Together with the members and staff Fusion’s Color Guard was awarded high Guard within Class “A” for the 2008 season. Fusion Core Announces 2009 Visual Staff

Matt Risell – Visual Caption Head

Matt Risell returns to Fusion Core as Visual Caption Head for the 2009 season.  Matt joined the visual staff for the 2008 season and was part of the team along with the members earning the Class “A” Visual Caption Award.  Matt is a music educator with a degree in music education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  During college, Matt was section leader (Trumpet) and performed with the Legend IUP Marching Band(Read More ...)

Visual Instructor – Meg Spatz
Meg joins Fusion this season as Visual Instructor with a wealth of music and marching experience. Though this is Meg's first experience as staff for drum corps, she is an experienced public school band director. Meg holds both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees from Mansfield University. (Read More ...)

Fusion Core Announces Color Guard Team

The Fusion Team has been working diligently on behalf of the members and fans to provide world-class instruction as it performs "Progress" utilizing Disney’s Illuminations; Reflections of Earth as its inspiration for the 2009 season.

As we move forward into the 2009 season we are excited to expand our Class “A” winning color guard and membership, entertaining a “team” instructional concept.  Leading our guard as well as expanding the current membership in world-class instruction will be Darren Delaney, Daniel Bostic, and Aaron Palmer.  Each of these talented individuals has been involved in the drum corps activity for many years and has been successful not only in the sport of competitive drum and bugle corps but indoor guard as well.  Collectively the “team” will be responsible for the design, technique and choreography program for the guard complimenting the brass & percussion in what will be an explosion of color and expression as Progress comes to life.  (Read More ...)
