Fusion Core Announces 2009 Brass Arranger/Consultant & Percussion Arranger

Fusion is very pleased and excited to announce the addition of two highly distinguished long term drum corps professionals to our team for the 2009 season. Ron Ellis joins the “Core” as Brass Arranger/Consultant and John Campese as Percussion Arranger. As we move forward into our third season, we look forward to continuing to provide our members with the opportunity to enhance their musical and color guard/dance performance education in an atmosphere that fosters not only teamwork, mentoring and dedication, but also the pursuit of excellence.  Fusion is dedicated to providing the best drum corps experience to all members while providing world-class instruction and programming in a creative positive environment.

Ron Ellis has served as the brass arranger for the Yokohama Inspires Drum and Bugle Corps since 2004 and served on the brass staff for the Magic of Orlando from 1996 through 1999. Currently Ron is the Program Coordinator/Brass Arranger/Brass Caption Head for Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps, Jacksonville, Florida. During his marching years, Ron was lead baritone for Suncoast Sound in 1982, 1983, and 1985 and taught marching in 1987 and 1988. In addition to serving as the Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Central Florida he has been conductor, clinician, show designer, music composer/arranger and adjudicator for various Universities throughout the United States including Northwestern University, The University of Minnesota, the University of Southern Illinois, Stamford University and the University of Alabama Birmingham.

As a professional musician and conductor, Ron also currently holds the position of Music Director for the Walt Disney Company serving as show coordinator for the Student Musician Program at the Magic Kingdom.

Mr. Campese also a Florida native has a long and distinguished history in the activity as a performer and staff member with several organizations and was one of the founding members of the Magic of Orlando. John currently is the Percussion Supervisor/Caption Head also for Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps in Jacksonville, Florida. His marching accomplishments include the Leathernecks, Florida Vanguards, Anaheim Kingsmen and Suncoast Sound. He has also served as Percussion Instructor/Caption Head for such corps as Suncoast Sound, Boston Crusaders, Yokohama Inspires (Japan) and, of course, Magic of Orlando! For 18 years John has also served as a performer/arranger with Walt Disney World. He is perhaps best remembered as one of the performers in the powerhouse Future Corps. In addition to the above, John is also the founder and director of the current WGI World Percussion Finalist, Infinity Percussion from Orlando, FL.

"We’ve got an awesome future ahead of us” said Holly Marino, Director. As a new corps within the DCA organization there is so much talent within the activity and we look forward to providing championship caliber instruction to our membership. Ron and John will be a great addition and asset to the overall musical development of the Core as we move forward and build on the foundation that has been set in place; we look forward to a long term relationship.
